Look of The Day: Student Ease

Waking up with French songs ringing in my head and having a tense and phrase revision session in my head, all i can think is, Today Is My Final Exam!!!!!!!!! *Serious Happy Dance*

The mixture of excitement, nerves and not having properly woken up yet, resulted in today's look... My Student Ease

A simple go-to-look for late mornings and stressed students: Boyfriend jean and a plain white tee.

How I wore it:
I teamed my blue boyfriend jean (that slightly oversized jean, usually turn-ups that every girl should have) with a white tee. As it is Spring I felt colour was needed so I threw on a pink cardigan. My golden rule: always accessories, I added a white headband (using a belt, shhhhh) and feathered earrings.... The result: Student Ease

Look of the Day: Denim on Denim

Wearing denim on denim could easily make you look like you've just stepped out of the 80's, and unless your 80's look has vintage flair then you could easily look like an unwanted blast from the past...

How to wear denim on denim:
- Contrast your colours: don't wear the same shade of denim, try mixing washed out denims with navy's or even better try wearing coloured contrasts, green and blue or coral and blue.

- Avoid solids: when wearing denim on denim make sure you wear something with tons of colour or strips. Try a denim jean and jacket with a floral tee or a denim jean and shirt with a chunky necklace.

How I wore it:
I paired a dark blue denim turn-up jean with an oversized vintage shirt and striped tee.

A Mouthful of Happiness

One of the many joys of shopping is finding lost treasures in vintage stores and little bakery's in corners. Today was on such day when my mother and I unexpectedly stumbled upon a little bakery. The delicious smell drew our attention and the little beauties on display kept us there as we chatted to the owners and bakers of those beauties.

With Cape Town’s crazy weather dark jeans and warm blazers have made a return. Because not everything has to be doom and gloom like the weather, I’ve decided to mix up my look going for fun sophistication.   

 

-Take your sophisticated blazer and add a printed top for a funky look.

-Add a contrast belt and be on trend with colour blocking.

- Don’t be shy to add statement jewelry.

- And to accommodate Cape Town’s weather, sweep up your hair into a ponytail or high tied bun.

Obsession of the Week: Rings

When it comes to jewelry I’ve always drifted to armbands, bracelets, charms, every and any arm candy. Lately however, I’ve began to stock up on rings.

My way:

-          There’s only one motto: the more the merrier.

-          Go ahead and pile them on.

Neon Monochrome

As I wake to a bedroom bathed in light, my only thoughts are sun, glorious sun! As my thoughts slowly drift to bright florals and suede green pumps I snap back to a sad reality realizing that I cannot, once again, be fooled by early morning sunshine.

As I am not completely prepared to give up my comfortable jersey’s and staple black and as I refuse to give up on the idea of wearing summer brights, I decided, lets mix them…

 

The Awkward In Between

The change of season has left many of us confused, with rainy one day and scorching the next, getting dressed for varsity has become such an effort.

How to dress for that awkward in between weather:

-          Turn up your winter pants, this look will only work with skinny jeans or pants.

-          Pack away those socks and rock the pumps.

-          Team a summer tee and an oversized jersey or shirt. If you are unsure about the weather layer. Wear an extra tee or cardi which can easily be removed later in the day.

I paired a vintage over-sized shirt with a hi-waisted pants and tucked in print tee. This way I’m all Spring without having the brace the cold.
